(For my Dad)
I sat with a robin on a fallen tree,
the sun was bright, a frosty
morning painting my cheeks to a
rosy pink and my breath clouds of mist.
A white blanket laying crisp upon
the fallen leaves and the world was still.
We didn't speak, but we
acknowledged each other with a
nod of our heads, recognising who
we were, before the world grew quiet
without you.
There we stayed for a quiet
moment letting the world just pass
us by, comfortable in the silence
and the familiarity.
His little heart thumping – steady
familiar in his feathered red breast,
my heart matching its rhythm.
Thank you, Mr Robin, it is so
wonderful to see you. I have
missed you every day since you left.
